A picture is worth a thousand words and so we asked Francesco Chiacchio to answer a few questions in its own way.
Cosa vedi quando ti guardi allo specchio?
What do you see when you look in the mirror?
“Leonardo Da Vinci vedeva alberi, paesi, battaglie e tante altre immagini nelle macchie che trovava sui vecchi muri. Shakespeare vedeva draghi e altri animali nelle forme delle nuvole. Bernardone non vede niente altro che nuvole nelle nuvole e macchie nelle macchie.” (Bruno Munari “Arte come mestiere”, Laterza) E tu?

Nel libro “Momenti di trascurabile felicità” l’autore Francesco Piccolo introduce il suo irresistibile catalogo dell’allegria di vivere, così: “Possono esistere felicità trascurabili? E allora come chiamare quei piaceri intensi e volatili che punteggiano le nostre giornate, accendendone i minuti come fiammiferi nel buio?” Ce ne racconteresti uno tuo?
In the book “Moments of negligible happiness” the author Francesco Piccolo introduces its irresistible list of joyful living in this manner: “There may be negligible happiness? And then how to call those intense and volatile pleasures that punctuate our days, turning the minutes as matches in the dark?” Would you tell us one of yours?

What do you see out the window?
Francesco Chiacchio vive e lavora a Firenze. Il suo lavoro spazia dal disegno al collage. Ha illustrato libri, dischi, poster e disegnato storie a fumetti. Dal 2010 al 2012 ha illustrato le pagine culturali de La Repubblica di Firenze.
Nel 2010 ha realizzato le immagini per il progetto multimediale X (Suite for Malcolm), composta dal sassofonista Francesco Bearzatti per il suo Tinissima Quartet, presentato in Europa e negli Stati Uniti. Nel 2013 inaugura la mostra “il segno come racconto” presso la Galleria Il Ponte di Firenze, curata insieme alla galleria Tornabuoni. Questa stessa collaborazione si svilupperà nell’esposizione di alcune opere durante l’edizione del 2013 dell’Armory Show di New York.
Francesco ama coltivare le parole nell’orto-grafia, annaffiarle con segni differenti, guardarle crescere da lontano e coglierle in un disegno.
Vive con un occhio di riguardo all’altro occhio, e viceversa.
